IPL Sydney, Australia

An alternative to laser treatment of freckles, liver spots, and facial redness

A wide range wavelength light source that is beamed onto the skin to simultaneously cure various skin conditions, repetitive treatment with IPL can rejuvenate the skin and help improve aging skin as well as making the skin looked brighter and finer.

IPL can treat conditions such as freckles, and liver spots that used to be treated with laser. It is also used to treat the redness associated with acne as well as facial redness that are caused by stretched capillary vessels. IPL treatment of freckles, liver spots, general skin trouble, red spots associated with acne, and facial redness also brings about a positive side benefit of the skin becoming brighter and fairer.

Although IPL treatment itself takes a very short amount of time to perform, for a safer treatment it is recommended that IPL be performed on a part of the skin that is not very visible at first and then to monitor the treated area for 10-20 minutes or one to two days for signs of any problems or side effects. IPL treatment is normally followed by a slight reddening or swelling of the treated area on the day of the treatment, but unlike laser treatment, the reddening or swelling begins much later than with laser treatments. But the reddening or swelling can be minimized if the strength of the IPL treatment is lowered.

During IPL treatment the patient may experience a slight stinging or burning sensation, and about a day after the treatment small scabs will form on the treated area. However the changes to the skin such as the scabs and swelling will be much less than with laser treatment. The small scabs will start to disappear one to two weeks after the treatment, but it is recommended that the patient take care in washing the face during the early days after the treatment. As long as the patient doesn't rub the face after the treatment generally there shouldn't be any problems.

When treated with a lower strength IPL, it is much more comfortable to the patient than your typical laser treatment and there are also no disturbances to daily life. The best course is to begin the treatment with lower strength IPL and then to gradually increase the strength of the IPL with future treatments.
