From shaving of the bones to the
injection methods
Asians and westerners have different views on beauty. Westerners
tend to think that a person with high cheekbones and sharp
chins is beautiful.
Therefore there aren't any procedures in western cosmetic
surgery that reduces the cheekbones or the chin. Instead there
are procedures that raise the chin and cheekbones through
silicon insertion. Most rhinoplasty in the west involves lowering
the nose not raising it. Many physicians have little or no
experience with double eyelid surgery.
Korean women have a very different perspective on facial
shaping surgery from western women. Korean women consider
high cheekbones to be bad luck and because it makes them look
fierce, request lowering them and also request narrower chins.
There are also many requests to correct for small chin ends,
long chins, and protruding lower chins due to misaligned teeth.
Hence surgical procedures that make the face smaller have
developed in Asia and Korean physicians have more knowledge
and experience with such procedures.
In the past, a typical procedure would shave away bones from
the face, but new techniques employing the injections into
the masseter is now very popular.
The injections take a very short amount of time and the cost
is only one fifth of surgery. The effect of the injection
wears out after 3 to 6 months, but there are no risks, because
muscle that has been reduced does not regain its size. In
addition, the injections are rarely accompanied by any side
effects such as swelling, numbness, and general nerve pains,
and there are no resulting scars.
Immediate return to daily life such as golf, swimming, and
other exercises is possible after a procedure and make up
is possible as well, making it a popular choice for women
in their thirties and forties.
